Transient Insomnia

This type of insomnia is little more than going a couple of nights without proper rest, the individual can fall in and out of sleep throughout the night, waking in the morning feeling tired and restless. Typical causes of transient insomnia can be; worrying about an important meeting at work, knowing you have to be up earlier than normal to catch a plane, something upsetting you that day. Basically, you are preoccupied about something and it disrupts you normal sleep pattern. Transient insomnia is not proper insomnia but is still worth mentioning.

Acute Insomnia

Acute insomnia can be a little more serious, as its effects can last several weeks to a few months in extreme cases. This type of insomnia is usually brought about by a temporary upset or change in ones life. The stress of moving house, financial worries, divorce or the death of a loved one. This type of sleep disorder usually stops when the things that caused it are resolved.

Chronic Insomnia

Chronic insomnia is the worst kind of insomnia and is known in some cases to last years. Ones quality of life is seriously affected. Causes of chronic insomnia include severe depression, continual physical pain and discomfort, sufferers of high anxiety and stress. Chronic insomnia causes several side effects that can be dangerous if not cured.
